Let's Go Hiking - and Don't Forget my Bowl

ConstructionBoth of the bowls are made with a ripstop nylon outer shell and a waterproof interior layer. When folded, the water bowl forms a flat cylinder about 1-1/2" in diameter and 5" long; opening into a bowl about 5" high and 6" in diameter. That's large enough for about half a gallon of water; maybe a little swimming pool for someone's Teacup Chihuahua. Our Labrador easily sticks her whole blockhead muzzle inside to lap up any water left on the bottom, though she would actually rather drink the water while we pour it in. Our late lamented previous Labs, both of whom topped 100 pounds compared to Her Svelteness’s 62 – had no problems getting to their water, either. |
Using the Bowl
The bowl has a bungee loop you can wrap over the package to keep it rolled, plus a mini-carabiner for clipping it to your pack, a belt loop or the dog’s collar, though we make her carry it in her backpack. The bowl air dries and you can clean it, by hand, with mild soap and water if necessary. We do find that the bowl won't stay propped open without constant attention, so you can't put out water and leave it for your pet to drink whenever he wants. Our two bowls are at least a decade old now and well used, yet look to have many years left.
One thing to be aware of is that Petsport USA’s logo tag is a small cartoon of a US flag with a white pawprint instead of the stars. However, the other side of the tag says, “Hand wash. Hang Dry. Made in China.” Who knew...
Summary
PLUS: large capacity, small size when closed, easy-clean
MINUS: doesn't stay open well
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: Our blond Lab loves to drink from of her Pack My Bowl water bowl, 'cause that means she's out for hike!
